This is so relatable. We shipped all our books across the ocean when we moved to Kenya. And we’ll be shipping them right on back when we return — it seems only right that the ones that take us on so many journeys get to take a journey themselves!
I love this! My own library collection is still relatively small (although growing quickly now that I'm not moving across the country every other year!) but I've always had a great appreciation for the library in my parents' basement where I can revisit well loved childhood stories or delve into classics I've never read before.
I can relate to every bit of this, Rachel. And thinking of my book hoard as a library transforms the whole idea--I love having titles at hand to pass on to friends, and your description of stumbling unexpectedly on your own treasures is delightful.

Oh how sad! 😢
Great article Rachel. We relate to every word of this article. Go team Bandersnatch!
I have a friend who drastically downsized her library ... and has regretted it ever since as she rebuilds it book by book.

I love the photo of your poetry shelf!
